Harare’s Highland Park Precinct Set for Major Transformation.

An expansive new urban precinct spanning 200,000 square meters was set to transform the landscape of Harare’s upmarket Highlands suburb. Developers Terrace Africa recently unveiled the multi-faceted Highland Park Precinct - incorporating retail, commercial, hospitality and residential elements.

Construction on the ambitious mixed-use precinct was scheduled to commence in November 2023. On completion, it aims to provide an integrated lifestyle and work hub for residents and visitors alike according to the plans.  

The precinct builds on the successful first phase of the Highlands Park shopping center, which opened to enthusiastic shopper response in 2021. Its second retail phase is nearing completion, complemented by modern office towers interconnected for convenience.  

However, the wider precinct has even loftier goals according to Terrace Africa Marketing Coordinator's website. The developers highlighted that plans include Harare's first specialized retail "Design Quarter” spanning over 20 stores focused on interiors, décor and creative enterprises.  

An international hotel equipped with a large conferencing venue will also help attract foreign investment and business tourism according to the developers. This will be surrounded by an open-air piazza lined with restaurants and family-friendly recreation zones.  

For urban professionals and families seeking inner-city living, 350 modern apartments are incorporated into the precinct design. Residents will enjoy walkable access to gyms, shops and recreational spaces.  

The Highland Park Precinct will include vibrant retail, state-of-the-art offices, a designer shopping quarter, hospitality venues, residential spaces and lifestyle amenities.

The project represents one of Zimbabwe’s most ambitious mixed-use developments, leveraging a prime location to blend multifunctional spaces. Within a single precinct, office workers can take a convenient stroll to lunch, shopping or their nearby residence according to the plans.

Weekend shoppers will also be drawn in by retail variety from clothing to decor, stopping for a coffee or meal along the way. And business travelers can conduct conferences without even leaving their hotel.
