New Luxury Townhouses Offer Modern Lifestyle
New Luxury Townhouses Offer Modern Lifestyle

An upmarket new housing development is drawing the attention of young professionals in Zimbabwe's capital seeking a modern, convenient lifestyle option away from the hustle of the central business district.

Glenara One, constructed by top property developers Turnbury in partnership with Stanbic Bank, consists of 12 three-bedroom townhouses arranged in six duplex blocks. Situated at the intersection of two major roads in the affluent Highlands suburb, it offers easy access to various amenities.

According to Turnbury's Celestino Kunaka, the prime location near shops, schools, churches and recreational facilities makes Glenara One ideal for middle-income commuters. Kunaka explained that each well-appointed unit also has a guest bathroom and open-plan living spaces drowned in natural light.

He highlighted that the project was completed in October 2023 after two years of construction. It aligns with the City of Harare's vision to densify certain neighborhoods by transforming them into mixed-use residential and commercial hubs.

Kunaka pointed out that the Glenara area specifically has been earmarked by council for cluster home developments that enhance the urban landscape. The new luxurious townhouses are intended to meet demand from young professionals aspiring towards modern, high-quality living spaces.

Stanbic Bank selected Turnbury as an experienced partner for the development, having worked together on other housing projects since 2019. This includes an estate in the exclusive Borrowdale Brooke suburb.

Glenara One residents have access to a shared recreational space, with Kunaka stating that the clubhouse features a spacious lounge and kitchenette suitable for meetings and events. He described that the contemporary duplex units themselves have an entry lobby and guest bathroom downstairs, with the kitchen, living spaces and bedrooms upstairs.

Kunaka emphasised the intentional design that incorporates open-plan layouts and a kitchen "island" that doubles as a dining table. This allows for multifunctional spaces that blend entertainment, cooking and eating areas into a seamless backdrop for modern living according to him.

He said residents can look forward to coming home each day to a tranquil, private suburban retreat - while remaining just minutes from schools, shops, healthcare and an array of restaurants and public spaces.

Owning such a modern, luxurious property in Harare's affluent suburbs has long been an aspiration for many Kunaka explained. However, developments catering to this middle-income market segment have lagged behind demand according to him.

As Kunaka highlighted, "this project aligns with the city's vision for urban development and aims to provide residents with modern and luxurious living options."

For Stanbic Bank, it represents a lucrative opportunity to construct upper-middle-income homes financing the aspirational lifestyles of Zimbabwe's growing professional class according to Kunaka.

He said the two joint venture partners will likely look to replicate the success of Glenara One with similar projects capitalising on shifting lifestyle trends. With the area earmarked for further densification, more cluster homes can be expected catering to this underserved market according to him.
